I agree with what the CReasoningSkills had said which is the reason of most Singaporean that are migrating to other countries is due to the high stress level that Singaporean faced. And the fact that the stressful enviroment is essential to sustain the fortune of peace and harmony. On top of that, as Singaporean, we are also built with the slogan of "Second place is not an exceptable option."

On top of that, i also agree with them that due to the living standard of singapore, with the increasing of TAXes, we will easily be tempted by the a higher paid job or a less stress enviroment compared to Singapore for people who will like to enjoy their life after working for lifetime.

As a result, i agree with them that by migrating to other countries is not being disloyal, but is a way for them to choose and live in a different enviroment which they thinks that might suit them better.

We think there are several reasons why Singaporeans choose to migrate to other countries.

Firstly, is due to the stress level in this fast-pace country. The need for us to consistently improve to compete with the rest of the major countries had made the society in Singapore more stressful than countries such as Switzerland.

Furthermore, with the increasing amount of employers looking for highly qualified workers, Singaporeans have been led to believe that with the more paper qualification one have the more chances they can get to obtain a post with high-pay. This have brought along competition not only within the working society but also in the education level.

Suicide rates in Singapore due to education alone take up the majority and are fast increasing. This is not because of the difficulty in the syllabus but rather the stress caused by the education system. Not too long ago, a newspaper report had reported that a secondary school student due to his poor results threw himself out of the window. And instead of ending his life, he ended up in the hospital.

Comparing with other countries, Singapore citizens are among the ‘most stressed citizens in the world’ list and it is no wonder why our country people will end up deciding to migrate to other countries to escape from this stressful community. Other countries such as in Australia or USA have lesser competition and this brings about lesser stress and it made migrating to other countries more tempting. The increased amount of work opportunity and the higher amount of pay other countries offer are other main reasons why migrating is tempting.

Singapore itself is a small island found in the continent Asia. Another factor why Singaporeans choose to migrate to other countries might be because they think Singapore is too boring for them as there are limited places to go to. A tourist who decided to visit Singapore might be able to cover the majority of the attractions found here within three days, as compared to other countries, such as USA or even Europe; a week can only allow you to cover a small part of the country itself. Therefore, some Singaporeans might feel that other countries maybe more interesting and have more places to visit than in Singapore.

However, we cannot look at things from only one point of view. If we totally agree that Singaporeans are not disloyal if they migrate to other countries, there might as well be no more Singaporeans left in Singapore. There are some Singaporeans who decide to slug it out in Singapore, so there is no reason for them to leave just because of the mentioned factors.

Firstly, with the lack of job opportunities in Singapore, Singaporeans should view it as a blessing in disguise. We should upgrade ourselves to compete with the foreign talents, and rid the tags of ‘boring’ and ‘uncreative’ that have stayed with us for quite some time already. There are many successful people that do not have high qualifications, so why should Singaporeans leave just because there are foreign talents coming in?

Secondly, although Singapore is really more boring compared with other countries, one should note that we cannot live just by having fun. Singapore has limited land space, and too much entertainment facilities just will not do. Moreover, how boring or interesting and fun a place is, only depends on the people who populate the place. We should make Singapore a better and more interesting place, not letting it becoming more interesting by itself. A theme park will not be fun if everyone goes there with a bad mood.

To conclude, we disagree that Singaporeans who migrate overseas are considered disloyal. Although we are provided with food, shelter, education and a geographically safe environment here in Singapore, some Singaporeans might want to migrate as they feel that the environment found here do not suit them at all. Singaporeans still have a decision to choose their own path in life, be it migrating or just staying put.

Firstly, I would like to say that it would be appreciated if the article was paragraphed.

I would have to disagree with some of the views of the group. Firstly, GaySociety stated that one of the reasons is due to the job opportunities in other countries. I am sure that many of us would have thought of this point at first, but why should Singaporeans tackle this problem in this manner.

In my opinion, Singaporeans should not take this as an excuse, instead, why not take the lack of job opportunities in Singapore as a blessing in disguise? We should be upgrading ourselves, and trying to shed that 'boring', 'uncreative' image of Singaporeans. There are many successful people in Singapore without high qualifications, and that proves that paper qualifications are not as important as they seem. Of course, I am not saying that everyone has that kind of ability, rather, trying to prove my point that we should not use such matters as excuses.

Secondly, it is mentioned that the Singapore education system is not as good as education system of countries like Australia. I would beg to differ. When GaySociety stated that the education system in Singapore is least varied, I would have to agree to a certain extent, as it only holds true for the first 10 years or so. Unless students decide to go to JC, tertiary education onwards is not as unvaried as many people think of it to be. Moreover, the better universities in Singapore are better recognized than many other universities from other countries, for example Australia. Many people in Singapore choose to study in Australia because they cannot enter their desired college or find that education in Singapore is too stress after all.

However, I have to agree that the cost of living in Singapore is higher than other countries after all. This especially holds true for the land, vehicles, and such. This is the most valid reason why Singaporeans would migrate to other countries. However, this is only possible if the citizen has the money to migrate in the first place, and if they have the money to migrate, it most probably mean that they can cope with the living cost in Singapore. Moreover, a friend of mine studying in Australia currently noted that the price of food in Australia is much higher than in Singapore, thus, there are pros and cons regarding the difference in the cost of living between Singapore and Australia.

In conclusion, I would have to disagree with most of GaySociety's response, but that is only my point of view, and everyone has theirs. Thus, I would have to say that GaySociety did have some good points that I did not mention in details, however, many other points mentioned are different my point of views.

I agree with the CReasoningSkills group. The reason why most Singaporeans want to migrate is mainly due to the stressful environment. Be it on the education level or the working environment, it is always in a competitive state. They will try their utmost best to outdo one another so as to gain recognition and status. The competitiveness has brought about much unwanted stress and this has led many to think that Singaporeans are ‘one of the unhappiest citizens in the world’ as mentioned by CReasongSkills group.

Also, the different living standards in other countries may appear more appealing to Singaporeans. The more relax lifestyle may be what they were looking for and with the good economy found here in Singapore, many can afford migrating.

To conclude, Singaporeans who migrate overseas should not be considered disloyal. They still have a right to choose their own path in life and not just stay here in Singapore.

I share the same sentiments with the allgirlsgroup that singaporeans who leave the country and migrate overseas are disloyal. This is because, We are Singaporeans, we are from singapore, how can we just leave. Singapore has given us all we need, food, security, education. By migrating is it a good way to repay Singapore? I don't think so.
Its funny though, so many foreigners are fighting to have a place in Singapore, yet so much Singaporeans wants to get out of Singapore. Kinda ironic.
Yes, although singapore is small, but it provides you with the basic necessity and is one of the most secure countries in the world.
The reasons this people migrate is just like what allgirlsgroup has mentioned, to have a better life.
Well, in a nut shell, i believe that one should be true to his or her own country. This is the least you can do to repay ur country.

Paper qualifications are not as important or relevant as work experience in the real world.

We think that having a paper qualification might not be able to help us when we enter society. To us, what matters the most is the work experience. We truly believe that work experience is the more important than qualification.

Having the qualifications does not necessarily mean that you are equipped with the knowledge of the things that you will be doing in your area of specialty. Like what the chinese proverb say, the older the ginger is, the spicier it is.

Morever, having the experience is more useful than having only paper qualifications. Like for example, you might have the perfect answer on how the machine operates and how to operate it, but when it comes to hands-on, you might be confused. Furthermore, someone who has more experience would be more familar with the machine, this is what most of the employers will be looking out for.

Also, having qualifications means that you have met certain criteria and have the basic knowledge, but when it comes to working in the society, things that you have learnt may not be relevant to what you are doing and there maybe more to that of what you know.

On the contary, having qualification would give you a head start in what you are doing. This may enable you to possess the knowledge of what you are doing, unlike those who do not even have the basic knowledge. This helps you to learn and adapt faster at the environment you are working in.

All in all, we feel that although having qualification is important, but with work experience will allow you to survive better in the real world.

RE: THE ARTICLE

We feel that this is a good way to improve the economy of Singapore and increase the number of tourists coming to Singapore. With the casino, Singaporean will not need to go oversea to gamble and lose their money to other countries.

However, we cannot imagine Singaporeans taking part in reality shows. How they might behave in the show scares us. The ugly side of Singaporeans would see the light of day. Foreigners have another reason to laugh and mock at us now.
